An Industry in the field of Designing, developing and manufacturing of Timing devices. GIC got its system certified under ISO 9001 – 2000.GIC has a technical collabration with GE Grasslin Gmblt, Germay. Emersion Appliances controls USA.Most of the GIC products are marketed in India by the electrical business group of Larsen and Toubro Ltd. And in overseas market by CG International.

A & B Toolers Cochin was established on 14th june,2003.It is a Saudi based company run by AL-MASAT which is presently functioning at Saudi Arabia. This company is the first to start under the GIM program for the promotion of industrial exporting in Kerala. This company manufactures injection moulds, blow moulds, three plate moulds, hot sprue, hot runners and ejections with pneumatic, hydraulic & cam actuations of high standard which are exported overseas. The workshop is run by conventional as well as non conventional m/c’s such as CNC milling &sparking machines

JOB DESCRIPTION
Can design, manufacture, trouble shoot and maintain all types of plastic moulds and jigs & fixtures with or without least assistance.
Can work on all tool room conventional machines.
Can work on Auto-Cad with good speed.
Able to use various inspection and measuring instruments, gauges, etc

JOB PROFILE:

Most of the moulds are designed using the CAD facility.The mould drawings are issiued to the shop floor. Then the tool maker has to :

Interpret the drawing
Electrode planning if it doesn`tinvolve any 3D profiles.
Get the material from the raw material stores.
Get the conventional machining done & prepare for heat treatment, it -involves rough milling of core and cavities for sparking in later stages.
Making sure all bench works like tapping ,pre hole drilling for wirecut ,chamfering etc are carried out before heat treatment.
Making sure all pre planned operations for any particular feature is not missed etc
Sending for heat treatment and making sure all required hardness is achieved.
Checking the returned items for cracks,warpage,bends etc
Regrinding the references, removing the scales, retapping the threaded holes etc.
Getting the electrodes made conventionally as well as from CNC department.
Getting the sparking done.
Ensuring the movements and matching of core cavities,sidecores etc.
Doing the finishing operations, like polishing,if required
Assembling of mould bases, core cavity inserts ,ejector and sidecore assemblys etc.
Ensuring the correct finish of runners, gates, sprue bush tapers etc
Ensuring that no features are missing and the component areas are having the required surface textures.
From starting to finish after each operation the toolmaker is required to get the jobs inspected for the correctness and also ensure that there is enough stock for future planned operations if any.
He has to be present for the first test run and should get the fine tuning as well as any corrections done before the mould is decleared ready for handing over to the production shop or the customer.






Future Goals

To seek career as precision tool & die engineer in an esteemed tool room, where my skills & ability goes to play a major role in manufacturing as well as maintaining precision plastic moulds, jigs and fixtures also to create a good team sprit among the staff.
