Work Experience

Team leader
April 1998 till date.
Presently working with a leading research institute
Job Profile:
Development of water based adhesive for tyre retreading.
Optimization of the product to pilot plant scale.
Instruments Tests involved: Peel adhesion test via UTM
Money viscometer
Brookfield Viscometer
Rheometer.
Client Profile:
Development of Water based Adhesive for Tyre retreading.
The client is a global leader in tyre retreading and in manufacture of tyre sealants. The client currently uses solvent-based adhesive for retreading of tyres. The project involved the replacement of solvent with water-based adhesive. The water-based adhesive has zero volatile content environmentally friendly and same bond strength as solvent-based compound. The project is in the process of commercialization.

Patent Filed: 587 DEL 2002 A water based adhesive composition and a process for preparation of thereof.

2. Development of hot melt adhesive for book binding.

3. Development of room temperature curable AB compound for filling applications in deep cavities in damaged tyres.

The client is a global leader in tyre retreading and in manufacture of tyre sealants.
The conventional method of tyre repair is cumbersome, energy, time and labour intensive. Alternatively, a filling compound was developed which was used at room temperature without using external heat for curing, so that spot repairing of tyres may become possible.

4. Development of Process Technology for self-curable adhesive for repair of automobile tubes and tyres.

The client is a global leader in tyre retreading and in manufacture of tyre sealants. The client currently uses cold precured chemical curing repair patches for the repair of automobile tubes and tyres. The project involved the replacement of chemically cured patches with pressure sensitive adhesive patches. The PSAs have a quick bonding ability to the punctured surface due to aggressive tackiness at the room temperature and substantial bond strength is achieved by vehicular motion due to friction of tyre.

Responsibilities:
R&D for any problem on developed patch.
Development of adhesive for tube patches.
Development of adhesive for BP tyre patches.
Optimization of the product to pilot plant scale.

Position Description: Team Member
Total Team Strength: 3
Instruments Tests involved:
Peel adhesion test via UTM
Money viscometer
Brookfield Viscometer

Patent Filed: 57 DEL 2001 Novel Synergistic Adhesive Composition and a method for manufacture thereof.

ACADEMIC PROJECT:

1. M.Tech: Quantitative Correlations between MWD-Structure -Property in Poly vinyl Acetate

Empirical correlations were established between the mechanical properties and the different moments of the MWD. These correlations could be useful in predicting the mechanical properties as well to tailor the MWD. Through control of the polymerization reaction the desired mechanical properties in the final polymer could be obtained.

2. M.Sc: A study in Copper II promoted intramolecular iodofuctionalization of alkenes.

Training Workshops Attended:
Gel Permeation Chromatography GPC, Differential Scanning calorimeter DSC, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis TGA, TG MS, FTIR, Izod Impact, Tensile Testing Instron, UTM, Melt Flow Index MFI.
IPI two days seminar cum training on Plastic films.
Pilot Plant Skills: Compression Molding, Injection Molding, Extrusion, Roll Mill, and Kneader.
