To lead the entire PET bottle plant as its overall head, supervising the existing Production Head and all plant functions. While production is already managed day-to-day, this role's centre of gravity is the technical backbone of the plant — maintenance of machines, molds, and utilities; water and air quality; mold design and development; and building operator capability in PET processing. The Plant Head is the final owner of plant uptime, product quality consistency, and technical discipline.
Non-Negotiable Core Competencies (Must-Have)
Maintenance leadership across the full PET plant — injection molding machines (preforms), blow molding machines (single-stage and/or two-stage reheat stretch blow), and all supporting equipment — with a strong preventive/predictive maintenance culture, not just breakdown response.
Deep expertise in molds: preform molds and blow molds — their maintenance, refurbishment, hot runner systems, cooling circuit care, cavity/core polishing, venting, parting line and pin care — plus working knowledge of mold design (cavity layout, neck finishes, cooling design, steel selection) to develop new molds and evaluate/coordinate with mold makers.
Command over plant utilities and their quality parameters — high-pressure and low-pressure air compressors, air dryers and filtration (clean, dry, oil-free air quality for blowing), chillers, cooling towers, water treatment (softening/RO, chilled water quality to protect molds from scaling and corrosion), resin drying/dehumidification systems, and DG/electrical distribution.
Ability to personally train and develop operators and technicians in PET processing — process parameter understanding (IV, drying, injection profile, preform quality, reheat profile, stretch-blow ratios, material distribution), defect diagnosis, and correct machine/mold handling practices.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Leadership & Supervision
Overall Charge Of The Plant; Supervise And Guide The Existing Production Head And Functional In-charges; Set Plant Priorities, Review Kpis, And Be The Single Point Of Accountability To Management.
Build Coordination Between Production, Maintenance, Mold Room, Quality, Stores, And Dispatch.
Develop The Second Line: Shift In-charges, Technicians, And Mold Room Staff.
Maintenance – Machines
Establish And Enforce Preventive And Predictive Maintenance Schedules For All Injection Molding And Blow Molding Machines, Auxiliary Equipment (Dryers, Hopper Loaders, Chillers On Machine Side, Conveyors, Leak Testers).
Drive Down Unplanned Downtime And Mean Time To Repair; Maintain Machine History Cards, Spares Planning, And Structured Breakdown Analysis (Rca/capa).
Plan Overhauls, Machine Health Audits, And Calibration Of Process Instruments.
Molds – Maintenance, Care & Design (Critical)
Own The Mold Room: Cleaning, Preventive Maintenance, Refurbishment Schedules, And Storage/preservation Discipline For All Preform And Blow Molds.
Protect Mold Life: Cooling Channel Descaling, Hot Runner Upkeep, Venting, Wear Part Replacement, And Correct Mounting/dismounting Practices By Operators.
Lead New Mold Development — Prepare/review Mold Design Inputs (Cavitation, Neck Finish, Bottle Design Feasibility, Cooling Layout), Evaluate Quotations, Coordinate Trials With Mold Makers, And Approve Molds For Production.
Maintain A Mold Master Register With Shot Counts, Maintenance History, And Spare Inserts/parts Inventory.
Utilities, Water Quality & Air Quality
Full Ownership Of Utilities — High-pressure Blowing Air Compressors, Low-pressure Compressors, Air Dryers/filters, Chilling Plant, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment Plant, Dg Set, And Electrical Distribution — Including Efficiency, Statutory Compliance, And Amc/spares Management.
Ensure Compressed Air Quality (Dew Point, Oil And Particle-free) Suitable For Bottle Blowing And Pharma-grade Packaging Requirements.
Ensure Water Quality Standards — Softened/treated Water For Cooling Circuits And Chilled Water Hygiene — To Protect Molds And Heat Exchangers From Scaling, Corrosion, And Microbial Growth.
Monitor And Reduce Specific Energy Consumption (Power Per Kg / Per 1000 Bottles).
Processing & Operator Training
Set And Standardize Process Parameters For Each Preform And Bottle Sku; Maintain Process Sheets And Change Control On Parameters.
Conduct Structured, Hands-on Training For Operators And Technicians On Pet Processing Fundamentals, Defect Identification (Haze, Pearlescence, Uneven Wall Distribution, Short Shots, Aa Levels, Neck Defects), And Correct Responses.
Build Troubleshooting Capability On The Shop Floor So Quality Issues Are Caught And Corrected At Source.
Quality Systems & Customer Audit Readiness
Support Qc/qa And Represent The Plant In Customer And Certification Audits (Pharma Customers, Iso/gmp Systems For Primary Packaging); Ensure Hygiene, Documentation, Traceability, And Calibration Disciplines Are Audit-ready At All Times.
Drive Closure Of Audit Observations And Customer Complaints With Proper Rca And Capa
Candidate Profile
Currently Working As Plant Head / Technical Head / Sr. Maintenance & Mold Head In A Pet Preform/bottle Plant; Pharma Packaging Exposure Preferred.
A Hands-on Technical Leader — Comfortable On The Shop Floor, At The Mold Bench, And In The Utility Room; Not A Desk Manager.
Mature People-handling Ability To Supervise An Existing Production Head Constructively And Mentor The Team Rather Than Create Friction.
Data-driven, Disciplined In Documentation, And Stable Career Record.
Willing To Relocate To / Be Based In Indore.
We manufacturer a prominent manufacturer and supplier of pharma-grade and food-grade rigid PVC films, PVDC films, and blister packaging foils
