Work Experience

Research Associate: Since Mar 2004
Project Trainee: Mar 2003 to Feb 2004
Company Profile: Integrated, multidisciplinary Research and Development Center
Job Profile:
Organic Polymer Synthesis, Polymer Processing & Characterization of Polymer Blends

Processing Skills:
Reactive extrusion of thermoplastic-silicone random block copolymers. The formation of the co polymer occurs through a thermally initiated insitu free radical polymerization reaction.
Functionalization acid and epoxy of Polymers/polymeric back bone during extrusion.
Hands on experience in polymer melt processing Extrusion, Compounding & Injection Molding.

Wet Chemistry Skills:
Characterization and analysis of organic compounds and polymer systems by NMR, Minispec Silicone NMR and FTIR techniques.

Synthetic Skills:
Synthetic skills involve
Synthesis of tunable core shell nano-particles that comprises of cross-linked silicone core and thermoplastic shell through emulsion polymerization technique. The synthesis involved condensation ring opening polymerization of cyclic siloxanes in an acidic medium and the later step involves free radical polymerization technique to form a thermoplastic shell.
Synthesis of polymer soft blocks through ring opening polymerization technique in an acidic medium. The resultant soft blocks acts as elastomers when copolymerized with a thermoplastic polymer which imparts flexibility and ductility to the resultant copolymer.
Synthesis of linear thermoplastic-silicone blocks copolymer through radical initiated process in a solution phase. The synthesis is initiated through a thermal free radical peroxide initiator.
Synthesis of organic compound that acts as compatibilizer in a polymer blend system.
Synthesis of silicone based copolymers through hydrosilation and hydrosilylation reaction.

Future Goals

To pursue a challenging and rewarding career in the field of Chemical Science/Polymer Science and Technology and related fields utilizing my industrial (R&D) experience in Polymer science and technology with a view to explore its potentials for the benefit of the society at large.
