Distinctive Accomplishments across the tenure
Spearheaded operations leading the global team (India, Japan, China) was involved in developing dispersants for mineral fillers in polymers
Developed melt additives dispersants with performance similar to that of surface treatment agents silanes.
Excellent results were obtained for 60% magnesium hydroxide filled PP. A patent application is under preparation.
Pivotal role in product and process development of various chromophores, photochromic molecules photo-oxidation catalysts, UV absorbers and anti-oxidants.
Participated as part of the global team involved in developing novel catalysis booster system for melt polycondensation and solid state polycondensation in polyesters. The major challenge was to use non-toxic catalysis system that enhances that the rate of polycondensation without causing discoloration. The achievement was the development of melt polycondensation catalysis system that met the challenges.
Process for producing polyester with metal phosphonic acid complex catalysts, WO/2008/034730
Patent filed on solid state polycondensation catalysts with Ciba Inc.
Involved in developing novel additives that can enhance the hydrophilicity of polyester PET fibers. The major challenge was to develop additives that can have thermal stability at PET processing temperature of 300 C and chemically inert that they do not react with PET at processing temperature.Team has filed one international patent Wettable polyester fibres and fabrics, US20080176475
Developed various melt additives to improve the dust repellence in polycarbonates. I had developed two series of additives: perfluoro and polydimethyl siloxane based additives. The major achievement was to get desired dust repellence at lower additives concentrations while retaining polycarbonate completely transparent. Team has filed two international patents.
Fluorocarbon terminated oligo- and poly-carbonates as surface modifiers, WO2005059006.
Oligo & poly-carbonates terminated with silicon containing groups as surface modifiers, WO2006134045
