working on the shop floor in the production area, I soon learned how to start/stop machines, set conditions and adjust conditions to overcome problems, I was moved into the laboratory after a long term shoulder problem and quickly learned the basics of quality control, colour matching/adjusting, After 10 months I was made senior technician/team leader/colourist, I have held this role for the past 10 years. My responsibilities are as follows, Colour matching to customer samples and setting strict tolerances for the trials of these matches, adjusting colour accordingly at customer’s request, colour corrections on plant. I raise information for colour matches and material trials, I am solely responsible for the archiving of all colour standards, I also archive all existing works orders, I mix and manufacture small lot trials on our prism and am responsible for setting the standard running condition’s for this machine, I am responsible for the Pass/Fail of any material manufactured with problematic issues including colour, surface finish, softness, specific gravity, porosity& melt flow, Testing of customer sample’s for softness, SG, colour and weather ability.
