B.E. Project:

Comparative Study of Corrosion Inhibition in Carbon Steel using Non-Ionic Surfactants in Acidic Medium.

The project involved using non-ionic surfactants like TritonX 100, Tween 20, Tween 80 and Brij 35 to inhibit corrosion in carbon steel, which is a common material of construction of industrial reactors and pipelines, in an acidic environment. Comparisons with a proven cationic surfactant like CTAB were?made based on weight loss method to obtain positive results. Adsorption kinetics and detergency studies were also made. The application of this project can be extended to using eco-friendly non-ionic surfactants in the storage or transfer of fluids to prevent corrosion, thus extending the operational life of the equipment economically and effectively

Authored and published a review article in the ?International Journal of Advance Research in Science and Engineering? on ?Review of Action of Cationic and Anionic Surfactants on Corrosion Inhibition of Steel in Acidic Medium? in February 2015.
